x11 session manager (aLinux login) ???1

hi all,

here is the problem first i installed (aLinux 12.5) and it worked just fine ... but i think i did something wrong with the login manager in the option ..

by the way this linux doesnt boot by it self cause i didnt install LILO
i have to enter the line (( vmlinuz root=/dev/hda1 ))
(i'll need your help later on that :D )

back to the problem when i restarted my computer and entered the
(( vmlinuz root=/dev/hda1 )) line ,, it didnt take me into linux desktop ... but to a screen where the line ( x11 session manager )
is written and asked me for a login and password

aLinix login:
password:

i tried every thing .. i even changed the "root" password
and enterd it

aLinix login: root
password: blablabla
login incorrect

what should i do i cant use the comp

http://www.madpenguin.org/cms/?m=show&id=5027 tells that there was no root password set when you installed it. How DID you change the root password if you couldn't login?
Some small idea: Make sure you don't chose a password with special chars in the beginning unless you know that your locale is set right (i. e. that the letters you get correspond to what your keyboard labels says you should be getting). One time I had this problem when installing Slackware and found that the install process was done with another keyboard layout loaded (German) than after booting up the first time (English) so that some characters were not accessible at the (for me) usual positions.

i'm already in the root user (but i dont know what is its password because as you said there was no password in the first place) ... i dont know why it asked for a login name and password ... so i thought that i can enter counsel and change password to write it in that x11 session manager screen .. by
# su
# passwd

any way it didnt work .. and all the work was done by an english keyboard :D

by the way that form i've seen it brfore and it didnt give me a solution
