X won't shut down

I'm using fluxbox... and whenever I click "exit"... fluxbox closes but X is still running... I have to Ctrl+Alt+F1 and killall X to restart X

is there an explanation for why it won't work? I'm using slackware 8.0 / Xfree 4.1.0 / fluxbox 0.1.10 / nvidia drivers
