X windows resolution is not full screen

Hi all,

i am doing a project using X11R6.7.0 from X.Org for a Panel PC, the video driver i installed is Savage.

it works quite fine for the resolution "1280x1024", but if i change to "1024x768" it is kinda blurry. And if i choose another resolution for example "800x600", the shown windows will not be full screen (means there are black areas surrounding the GUI). i wonder if it is hardware problem, or i can do some setting to make the lower resolution becomes full screen.

thanks for the answer.

If I understand correctly, the monitor have not configured the correct width and height for those resolutions, incorrect moire, configured frequency and very few times it happens when the monitor horizontal position is too moved to one side. Everything there appears to be a default monitor setting, unmodified.

Hi,

sorry but i didnt get you well. so my basic question is that, is it possible for me to get a full screen X windows with certain resolution? since for what i have tried for "800x600", it doesnt show full screen (it comes with black area surrounding), as how i get full screen in the normal resolution "1280x1024" and "1024x768".

is it a software problem? should i change the X windows with the newer version? or is it basically a hardware problem that the hardware doesnt support the certain resolution for full screen mode?
what is the usual problem?

thanks for the answer, since i am not so deep in computer hardware before.

If you installed the right video driver I would think your panel doesn't like the "1024x768" resolution. If the black edge around the 800x600 is a small amount and you have adjustments on the panel you may be able to adjust the black edges from there.

Hi,

thanks for the answer, but the black edge is quite big, it is like a resolution (i am not sure) "1024x768" but with "800x600" resolution visible only. The other part are in black colors.
so is it actually hardware problem ? or can i adjust it from the software side?

thanks
