System locks up on "Initializing Periperhals" on the first boot. When the system is powerd down and restarted there is no problem. After I shutdown the system, and restart the system and execute startx for the first time the system hangs/freezes (no key`b access or mouse movement). I then have to shutdown the system with the power button, and restart the system. Then after all file checking is done (because the drives were not unmounted), I log in and execute startx and it loads up, and doesn`t lockup on the initializing periperhals. I have to do this everytime I first startup the system, or after a restart.

Note: I don't think its any IRQ conflict? I disabled the unused COMs in the system BIOS and it seems to have changed the system. Now when I launch startx, it slowly goes through each initialization steps and it takes over 2-3 minutes. Then when it finishes, I am left with a empty background. I un-did what I changed but I can' seem to get the system to load X-windows any more.

Please HELP!!!
