x window shifting problem

Hi everybody
I have a small but itching problem with xwindow.
Whenever my x window starts the screen looks shifted towards right and somewhat downside.

whereas in the text mode and also in M$windows the screen is correctly positioned.

Can anybody tell me is there anything in XF86Config file or else by which I can get the screen at right position.

Thanks
Rajesh.

I don't know if there is a way to fix this with a configuration file. In my experience, using the controls on the monitor to reposition the screen usually fixes the problem (most monitors will remember the settings for each video mode).

the exact position of the screen will change depending on the frequency you are running the monitor at as well as the montiors settings. so you may want to ensure you're running at the same frequency if your monitor can not remember different settings for each mode it can run at.

you can also create your own modeline using xvidtune which will allow you to stretch and move the display itself within the xserver.

you'll then need to put the generated modelines into /etc/X11/XF86Config in the modelines section and it should work ok.
