X stalls during boot - Slackware 12.0

I recently installed Slackware 12.0 and was editing xorg.conf to support my monitor's native resolution. I set the default colour quality to 32bit, and due to this X now stalls during the start-up process. Slackware appears to be trying to start X, but nothing happens. How can I disable X from starting through LILO (boot flags)? I've already tried booting from a CD, but am unaware of any flags that will allow me to boot in something akin to "Safe Mode".

Put a 3 at the end of your boot line (either at LILO's boot prompt or when booting your installation using a CD) and that will boot into runlevel 3 rather than 4, so you won't have X running.
