X Server screwed up for one user

Running SusE (latest version) and besides root, only have myself as a user. Haven't had a single problem, in fact I like Suse better than the other distro's so far. I have it set to use the GUI login screen, and default to my account, but after the bootup (services starting, etc...) no GUI comes up, and no X Server, just the blank, black screen with what lookis like a flashing cursor at the very top in the middle. If I boot up in failsafe mode, I can login is myself or root and navigate the file system, but can't start the X server using my account. Root works fine...Any ideas? Did the X server for my account just get hosed somehow and is there an easy way to restore it or reinstall it, or somehow get it back to how it was? Thanks.

do you see any error messages when you do
startx
as a normal user? If you do, post them here so that people can see what might be wrong.

You could also try setting up another user and see if it works for that user.

I also have problems like that, SuSE 9.1
I can only login on X(to KDE / GNOME)
as root, it works fine...
Logging in as other users only gave me
another login screen
(seems the Xserver restarting only)
no error , no warning , just restart...

Now I can't even X login as root nor as other users, the last time I did when I was on X is I installed yahoo messenger
and played around with my libcrypto.so.0.9.6 and libcrypto.so.2

does it have something to do with that lib?
I'll try to reinstall the lib ....
I'll post soon when I'm done with that..
