X doesnt start after configuring doble monitor (kubuntu 8)

i tried to configure my kubuntu for a doble monitor, but when i restarted my laptop the x didnt started! at least the "terminal" works well and i can shutdown with root.

can someone tell me how to reconfigure it to a 1 monitor via "matrix-way" (no easy wysiwyg)?

Yes. Instead of booting into your normal kernel, boot into Recovery instead. It has an option "Try to recover Xserver. " Try that.

i suppose you mean rebooting with the cd... but that choice isn't there. i rebooted with the installation cd and it only appears the live-version, install, and continue normally.
do you mean some other way? and how do i get there?
