Hello, I am a linux Newbie and i am trying to install a P2P program called Xmule. The problem arises when i try to configure the xmule source and an error appears saying that i do not have wx-config. I have downloaded wxGTK-2.2.7-0.i386.rpm and installed it but i have no results in compiling. Also after installing wxGTK i still don't find wx-config no where on my system even after i do a string search. Is wx-config not in wxGTK if not where do I find it? what do i donwload?

On my system /usr/bin/wx-config is owned by wxGTK, maybe try using locate to find where wx-config is, it may not be in your path or something silly like that.

What utility did you use for searching? If you use locate it will only find what is in the database not what is on the hard drive. The find utility should be used.

Try doing find / -iname 'wx-config' 2>/dev/null

RPM files may not contain the headers, so may need to download additional RPM files. I think your wxGTK RPM file only contains libraries.

You can use Kpackage, gnome package, or Midnight commander to look through the RPM file.

You should not mess around the wx-config file unless you have multiple versions of wxWidgets.
