wubi.exe

Most linux CD/DVD has a file named wubi.exe in the root, what is it?

It is an Autorun program provided by some of the modern-mainstream Linux Distro for aiding beginners (and lazy people) on installing Linux beside Windows.

WUBI (Windows UBuntu Installer) is an installer that installs Ubuntu inside Windows as a Windows program. When you boot your PC it will allow you to select Ubuntu (as a Windows program but looking a feeling like a native Linux install) or your regular Windows. Theorectically you can instal it while Windows is running and also uninstall it when Windows is running through the Add/Remove application remover.

Most? Ubuntu and ubuntu based distros only. Thats not even close to 'most'. Its just 1.....unless you count all the 'we take ubuntu XX.XX, change the desktop, splash screen and some defualt programs' as different distros.

Note to the linxu distro world- please, no more %^#%&^#$ ubuntu based distros. There is too many already.
