Would a new video card fix my slow java?

Hello. I'm running Ubuntu in a dual-boot setup with windows xp. I have a 2 GHz processor and 1.3 GB of RAM. For video, I have an on-board Intel graphics controller: 82845G/GL. The problem I'm experiencing is mediocre performance on java applications (namely, pogo games).

Could I see a performance improvement if I bought a NVidia Graphics Card? I've heard that they work well with Linux. I've been told that the main reason for my sluggishness is probably a misconfigured graphics controller, which is a common problem with Intel graphics controllers.

You'd see an improvement were you to not play java games; do some looking into the java platform and implementation, that should give you some insight why.

But graphics card? No; its not a graphics issue, its a java issue
