WORD document use
 

Hi All,

I have a small clarification wrt saving a document. I save a WORD document in .sxw format in Linux. If I want to use the same document in Windows how can I use it.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

You did NOT save a WORD document as an .sxw file. You saved it as an OpenOffice.org file. You have two potential solutions:

1. Install OpenOffice.org on Windows and open the document using OpenOffice.org for Windows
2. Use OpenOffice.org to save the file as a Microsoft Word (.doc) file, and use M$ Office to open it on Windows.

The problem is whatever changes I made in WORD document in LINUX it is not getting reflected MS windows.

Is there any specific modification that I have to do wrt the above.

looks like you're saving the file in the wrong place, because if you were saving to the same file, it'd work. Make sure you save it with the same extension too, my guess is you're saving the file either with the wrong extension or in the wrong place.

A nice median format for text documents is Rich Text Format.. the advantage of saving asd rtf is that pretty much ANY word processor can open it, I haven't found a word processor yet that can't read or save as Rich Text.... MS Word, Open Office, Word Perfect, MS Works, etc.. etc..
