wondering how to learn linux the best way?

good day everyone

I'm a user of Linux for a month just finished installing Linux 9 and I really wan't to learn more about the squid, apache, sendmail, LDAP and everything. I tried installing sendmail, squid but failed I'm wondering if i am on the right track in learning these things or is there another way or steps I must learn first before installing these applications?

Linux 9? You mean Red hat?

Anyway, i reckon a great way to learn all about linux at its core is to install Gentoo. It's actually reasonably easy, but it doesn't exactly hold your hand though. The documentation is brilliant and explains everything as you go, and the forums are nice and friendly and helpful, so you're never going to be without help.

You can install those applications from you installation media or using a package management tool such as apt or yum.
