WLAN not working with SUSE on compaq presario F767NR
I got opensuse 11.0 onto my compaq presario f767nr and like it much better than vista, in spite of the difficulty of getting everything up and running. My biggest problem: I can't get the wireless to work. Which drivers should I install, how do I install them, and how do I get them to work? I don't have any previous experience with the command line, so please try to be simple when explaining steps.
I entered the command you gave me and got this returned on the wireless adapter:
03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR242x 802.11abg Wireless PCI Express Adapter (rev 01)
Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Device 137a
Flags: fast devsel, IRQ 19
Memory at f6000000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [disabled] [size=64K]
Capabilities: [40] Power Management version 2
Capabilities: [50] Message Signalled Interrupts: Mask- 64bit- Queue=0/0
I have attempted unsuccessfully to install ndiswrapper, and some of its components are probably still floating around somewhere in my computer, and I've noticed that in order to get drivers to work, other people have deleted or disabled some of the drivers they already have.
