Wireless wont work on PClinusOS

Hey im brand new to linux and i was recommended to use pclinuxos as an easier transition into linux and i need some help with my wireless.
When i went to set up the internet connection i chose wireless and then it asked "use a windows driver (with ndiswrapper)." i found the .inf on my system cd in the drivers folder called bcmwl5.inf and then it scans for networks. it then pulls up a menu that says linksys(which isnt my router) and unlisted - edit manually. i start with the unlisted menu i enter my essid and click next and to the automatic recognize and i click finsih and it says it has been set up and i go to wireless connection and it shows it with good signal and has it as ad-hoc(what does that mean) and a little green arrow inside a circle(what does that mean) next to the ssid, but i cant get online. please help.

My laptop (with PCLOS) is at work---I'll look at this later today.

What I am remembering is that there are buttons for "configure" and "connect".

Also, most of the wireless setups I have used are "managed" and not "ad-hoc". (I can't explain what this means...;))

OK...

Administration Center ("PCLinuxOS Control Center" when the window opens) ---> Wireless Connection

In the configure window: "managed", SSID, and WEP key

After configuring, the circle with the curved arrow means it is not connected. Click "connect" and it should change to the cute little icon of two computers that look like they are having and intimate chat or ......;)

As I said earlier, I've never used Ad-hoc, and I'm not sure what it does.
