I am a very new user with Ubuntu
I have got some miscellaneous problems but there is still a big bug with the wireless of my tosh satellite p200
I have tried all easy solutions such as downloading packages from the software center but wireless still doesn't work
any help welcome !

well the driver for it is in the kernel already
been there since the 2.6.24 kernel. if you are using ubuntu 8.0.4 then update your sytem or use 810 that driver been in ubuntu for over a year and a half. if you are using ubuntu 8.04 then do this Now use that little icon to configure your wifi. do not for get to reboot UBUNTU

I'm running Ubuntu 8.10 on a HP laptop w/ Vista partition.

Thanks for your answer, this is what I can obtain as a result when trying to find this driver

sudo apt-get install linux-backports-modules-hardy-generic
" Impossible de trouver le paquet linux-backports-modules-hardy-generic"

I am using a toshiba p 200 primary set under vista
and I am running Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex 8.10

for info my network controller is :

Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG [Golan] Network Connection (rev 02)

that driver is in the kernel so you keep asking about how to load the driver for the hardware.
open a termenal and type lspci and post it then type lsmod and post it. then type dmesg and post it. this will show me your device then the module loaded for it and how it is loaded at start up.
so if you see the device and the driver loaded for it it will then be up to you to learn how to use the program to use your wifi connection. if not then try another distro I really am not a ubuntu fan. but there is plenty of ubuntu forums about you device.
