Wireless troubles

Ok, I've installed Ubuntu 8.10 64 bit on my laptop and love it compared to Windows, if there is a comparison, but I've run into some trouble. I can connect to my home wireless internet without a problem, but I am having trouble with public wireless. My college has wireless, and my computer can connect to the wireless without issue, but when I open Firefox or Opera, they both display a message saying the wireless has an old version of SSL protocol and won't let me surf the web. Like I said, the problem isn't connecting to the internet, it just that the web browsers won't let me surf it. Is there a web browser that lets you surf on insecure networks like Internet Explorer or Chrome will? Or is there a way to bypass the warning messages? All suggestions and help are, as always, very much appreciated. Thank You :)

The exact error message wold help a lot (post a screenshot and link to it from here). SSL has nothing to do with wireless connections, it has to do with browser/server connection. The typical problem in your case is typically a misconfigured proxy. But as I said, the exact error please...

Hi, your wireless is not fault, but mozilla is : firefox >=2.0 comes with SSL2 disabled and apparently the 10.0.0.0 network runs ssl2. Try following this or this
