Wireless Router Not Detected
 

Hi! I am currently using Mandriva One 2010.0 (probably displayed anyway...) on my laptop, and it is unable to detect my local wireless router connected to my desktop computer (running WXP). Oddly, Mandriva is able to detect other wireless networks (which I cannot access), but not my router. I am currently using the router successfully with an ethernet cable plugged into the laptop, however...
Also, if it is helpful, (I think) my router/network is called hpsetup.
Any ideas as to how I might be able to find it and connect in Mandriva? Thanks in advance! :)

Does your router have any security configured such as WEP or WPA?
What is the output of:
Are you using NetworkManager or wicd? If you are using NetworkManager get rid of it and install wicd which most ppl prefer to make it easier to connect.

My router is an unsecured wireless network. The other networks that are displayed are secured (and thus inaccessible).
The Run Command terminal did not respond to either of those commands (although the cursor blinked as if it acknowledged them).
Mandriva is calling the network manager Network Center, but either way it cannot be changed, as this is a LiveCD (i.e. Mandriva One).
Any other suggestions? (Or details that I should include?)

Not familiar with the distro you are using, however with Ubuntu and Fedora you have limited functionality with the Live CD's and that might be your issue.

Did you switch to root before typing those commands? :

I'm afraid I didn't switch to root. But here's an update- using WXP, I found out the network I'm currently using is one of the ones Mandriva displayed (the hpsetup network is there on XP, but XP isn't connecting to it properly anyway). So the problem for me now is finding the network key, which is automatically accounted for (i.e. saved) on XP. Unfortunately the key is only displayed as dots, and disappears when I click on the box. Oh well, it's up to me to find the key now I guess...
