wireless problem

i am a very new user to the linux platform.
i have installed Ubuntu 8.0.4 onto a toshiba l40-18w laptop.
the laptop came with only DOS and i have just installed Ubuntu.
i have finished configuring everything and have even installed the needed windows wireless drivers for Ubuntu. i go to network and put all the settings required. then i go to firefox to use internet but i cant open any sites.

can any1 please help me??????
