Wireless Network Ubuntu Aspire 5520

Hi,

I have installed Ubuntu 8.10 yesterday night :p
I cannot see he Wireless LED working with Ubuntu.
I tried searching similar threads but could not find a solution for my model of Acer and the wireless device.

Below is the wireless device that can be seen when I enter lspci in the terminal.

05:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR242x 802.11abg Wireless PCI Express Adapter (rev 01)

Thanks for your help !

Like you I have the AR242x 802.11abg and it works a treat on 9.04. I would suggest that unless you have a particular need for the Long Term Supported version you work with 9.04.

I initially used the live CD for 9.04 when it was in beta and it worked immediately. When the final issue arrived there was no problem on a full install.

Hope this assists

I have the same issue on Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.04 on the acer aspire one. However, wifi works so I don't care. For the UNR, I seem to remember that another kernel will do the trick.

To be honest, I don't care to much.
