Hi v1 I'm new to linux i just installed it couple of days ago and having trouble to connect to my wireless network..

More details? What distribution, what error messages or symptoms ...

its Redhat 5 ..
when i try to configure it gives me error mess

cannot activate network device eth1

If you can walk us through a little more exactly how you are trying to setup the wireless, it would help. This card should be working from what I can see so far.

One thing I note, usually the interface would be called wlan0, not eth1, but that isn't always the case. The output of iwconfig will show what the interface is called.

After that try

iwlist eth1 scan

Change eth1 to wlan0 if iwconfig shows the interface as such.

lsusb # will tell us the usb devices you have in your system.

ifconfig # will tell us what network interface cards you have on your system.

ifconfig -a

iwconfig # will tell us which of your network interface cards has wireless capability 



sudo iwlist <network-card> scan # this will use the <network-card> interface (that from the iwconfig command above) and scan for wireless routers that are accessible.

sudo iwconfig <network-card> essid <your-router-name> # assuming no security (the access point names will be provided by the previous iwlist command).

sudo dhclient # will attempt to get ip-address, subnet mask, dns server information automatically from your router assuming dhcp is turned on on your router.
