wireless internet

i have a linksys wusb54gs and i realized upon putting in my kubuntu cd it doesnt work with linux. im sure putting the install disk that works for windows wouldnt work would it? how will i get this to work for me? also kubuntu seems to be operating really slowly. Is this because i dont have the cd installed yet? is a live cd always more slow. I have an opteron 165 a gig of ram and an x1900 aiw with a audigy 2 zs.
thanks in advance

Yes, live CD's are going to be slower due to CD access time.

I'm not sure about your paticular WLAN card, but some are supported natively in Linux. However, you can use NDISWRAPPER, to install your Windows drivers. It seems to work pretty well.
