Question Wireless help on Xubuntu??


Hello everybody
I have a HP pavillion dv6000 that im going to install xubuntu on whenever i try it out the wireless doesnt work on it.
Im extremely new at linux. If anyone could give me the dumb-downed steps on what i need and what i have to do it would be greatly apreaciated.

To find out what wireless you are dealing with open a Terminal and input: lspci

...or if you are using usb wireless input: lsusb

Copy and paste your results here.

Have a look at "HowTo: Ubuntu Linux on HP Pavilion series laptops on http://aldeby.org/blog/index.php/how...series-laptops . Scroll down and you will see that it covers three wireless cards: A) Intel Wireless (3945ABG, 4965ABGN) B) Broadcom wireless C) Atheros wireless

That shows nothing at all.

it says a lot of stuff
it sasy my network controller is a broadcom Corporation bcm4311 802.11b/g WLAN (rev02)

So look at the howto quoted above and scroll down to Broadcom. If you are using 9.04 you should have no bother.

Guess what guys i installed xubuntu and as soon as i loaded it up it offered me the wireless driver! I installed it and restarted the computer and its working fine! As simple as that!! lol
