wireless connection

I have not been able to make a wireless connection. It seems that a wi-fi connection needs something in setup that I cannot identify. Is there an easy to understand solution?

You have not provided enough information for us to help you diagnose your issues. Which distribution and how far you got when attempting a wireless connection? Any error messages, or log entries?

I suggest that you consider reading the following so that your posts/threads provide information needed to aid you in diagnosis of issue(s);

first of all we need some information about your computer.
please, have a look at this:
http://crunchbang.org/forums/viewtopic.php?id=27628
and provide the output requested.
thanks.

"post output" means: open a terminal, enter the command.
copy all the output, including the command itself, and paste it here, in code tags (click "go advanced" => click '#').
repeat this with all commands.
skip rfkill if it isn't installed.

There is likely an easy to understand solution when the necessary information is available.

Please provide the make/model of your computer and the distro/version you are using.

In addition, we need to know the chipset on your wireless card. This post will show you the diagnostic tools you need to determine that, even if it's not the Broadcom wireless that the post is primarily concerned with:

Once we know your system's architecture (laptop or desktop), make, model and wireless card it's most likely as easy as installing a driver.-:)
