I've used:

- Applications -> Add/Remove Software ->
- Searched on Marvell
- Found the driver and installed it
- I then went to System -> Administration -> Network
- Tried to find it as a H/W device and add
- No luck

I've gone to the Marvell site as well and downloaded the driver pkg. but unsure how to install it from the .bin they've provided or how to build it from Make.

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Hello,

You have two ethernet controllers listed, Marvell and Realtek. Are you sure the wireless card is Marvell? If it is, you can load the driver from the command line with:

#sh nameofdriver.bin

I believe you will have to be root to do this. I have a marvell chipset in a laptop pcmia card and there are no native linux drivers for it, but I was able to get it working with ndiswrapper.

If it turned out that the wireless card was a Realtek chipset, you are in better luck because there are a number of linux drivers for realtek chipsets.

If you have the correct driver, once you run the install script you may have to do a modprobe to load the driver.

Hope this helps

Bob

Doing just a little searching for the Marvell Topdog wireless chipset, there does not seem to be any native linux drivers. Someone may correct me, but even the ndiswrapper site does not list it.

In the end, you find it easier to get an inexpensive Netgear pcmia card which is very Linux friendly.

Hi , I have 5 laptops and all are linux dualboot boxes. I have tried many different types of cards and the best working cards are [ Lucent technologies Orinoco silver ]--[Buffalo network airstation ]--[2wire Orinoco gold card]--[D-Link AirPlusXtreme G DWL-G650].. I put the cards in and I'm up in seconds.. They are well worth the investment..Ndiswrapper is a alternative , but it just does not like to stay working for me..Like Windows it breaks..and I don't have time to mess around...
