Wireless card not working - slack 13.37
I consider myself a newbie for debian, running a few games under wine, surfing the net writing docs etc is about the extent of my linux skills.
I am used to installing debian, setting up root password, username and password and then going to town. I wanted to get into something completely different and slack was it. After fighting acpi and xorg issues with the help of a fellow slackers I finally have a bootable laptop running Slack 13.37. Just one small problem. Wifi doesnt work. I know the wifi card works as it was the same card in my previous windows 7 install and debian installs and worked just fine. The only difference in this laptop (Dell e6500) is I swapped out the 160GB spinner for a 120GB Vertex 3 SSD. Is there a way to check the kernel modules for wifi cards and if the wireless card is compatible. The card does show in the kinfocenter "Intel Co Ultimate N WiFi Link 5300". As I said before I am a newbie to linux as a whole and slack was only installed a few days ago, so anything anyone can offer as guidance that is current or help would be very appreciated. |

If the card shows, what does lsmod tell you? (open a terminal, type lsmod, post results here on this thread). |
To set up wlan the easy way in slackware, install wicd (if it isn't) and use it to configure your card.
You may follow the wicd section in aliens guide : http://alien.slackbook.org/dokuwiki/...ckware:network Sometimes you'll need Code:
