Wireless card has stopped working on Ubuntu 7.0.4 (radio off)

hi all,

after a seamless install of ubuntu 7.0.4 on my amilo pro i realised i only had access to WEP so i went about learning how to implement wpa_supplicant.

eventually i got it working and then i configured my ip/gateway etc and i could browse the net - hurray!

unfortunately, after a system restart the connection was lost and i have now discovered (through iwconfig) that the wireless is turned off (radio off).

i've heard this is something to do with a kill switch but i really haven't been able to follow the tutorials and how to get it going. if it helps the card uses the ipw2200 driver (is that the term?)

any help would be greatly appreciated!

Some laptops have a little switch for turning wireless off. If this switch is moved to "Off", the wireless will not work.
Other laptops have a software function to achieve the same. See the second post in this thread: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...roblem-360514/
- it refers to a utility called acerhk, maybe that is what you need.

So it loooks as though acerhk was what you needed to turn on your wireless.
