Wireless card

I now have a Netgear WG511 wireless card for my laptop. Will Ubuntu have a driver?

Look here to see if your driver is suported.
You know you could have just googled "ubuntu supported wireless drivers", it was the first result.
This place needs moe stickies. I might write one.

From a quick search, I see there are at least 2 versions of that card, they are most likely different chipsets and require different drivers. Remember, Netgear didn't make the wireless stuff, they just made the plastic and metal that goes around it. The best way to know who made the actual chipset is to check the output of lspci in the terminal, then search for drivers for that.

More stickies won't help, no one reads them.

There's no need for more stickies here at LQ. What makes you think a sticky would have solved this members problem. Possibly the OP needs to learn how to use LQ Search.

LWM, I have a netgear wg311v3 installed on my desktop (using it now). I used ndiswrapper to make it work with Ubuntu. It was fairly easy, and works perfectly. I can help if you need assistance with that.

Here's the info on ndiswrapper: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wi...er/Ndiswrapper
I hope that helps.
