Exclamation Wiping out Vista

I have my hard drive partitioned between Vista and Ubuntu. I want to wipe out the Vista part of the partition so that I can install XP on it, but when I go into Partition Editor, it won't let me edit the partition because there is stuff on it that it can't read. I assume this is because it's stuff from the Vista OS. So I need to know how to get rid of Vista so that I can preform a clean install of XP in the piece of the partition that Vista was on. Thanks.

Unless you are looking to resize the partition, all you need to do is boot to the XP install CD and format the partition Vista is on, then install.

I want to do a clean install, so don't I need to delete Vista first?

You could always wipe the partition with 'dd'.

But as MS3FGX stated, just use the M$ XP install cd and you will be given a option to delete the partition. After that you can then format the partition with the filesystem you wish. Then continue the install to the same partition.
