Winmodem Problems
Hey,
I just installed linux (SuSE 7.2) but i can't get my modem working. The reference guide tells me that i have a "winmodem" and i can't get it working. I already tried to download the Intel Drivers off of http://developer.intel.com/design/modems/ but i can't run the scripts that they give me. Is there a way around all of this? Someone help me...im ripping my hair out over this, Specs: Modem: Intel V.90 HaM Modem Thanx |
well... i'm at work so i can't get into the tarball, but the drivers for pretty much every linux kernel are there.
you need to untar the .tgz file with tar -xzvf *driver*.tgz and it should have installation instructions with it. at worst, it expects you to run 'make' and 'make install'. |
 I have a winmodem(conexant), and I'm trying for about 3 months to make it work under my RedHat... and I'm starting to think that is impossible... I know one solution for SURE... buy a HARDWARE MODEM...!!!!! sorry...!

hey :)... i had an unsupported winmodem for the first few months i worked with linux - for a long time it didn't ever seem to me that linux would ever be able to connect - but, eventually, lucent released the drivers. two days after i bought a hardware modem.
linux DOES connect! don't lose faith :). |
