Hi, welcome to LQ, and a quick reminder :)
Please do not hi-jack a thread just because you think your problem is related, that's bad netiquette. Cheers, Tink |
I've tried it
I have the winfast expert, and this is how I got it to sort of work:
1) open up yast and install/remove software 2) install xawtv if you haven't already got it 3) run xawtv (be prepared for loud either no sound or loud staticy sound with a tiny window) 4) right click on the screen to get your options up, configure everything and go note: I haven't been able to save any of my settings, so xawtv is really annoying for me. I personally found TVtime in fedora core 2/3 a lot easier to work with. I've always found lots of crashes and freezing with SuSE. Plus I think it's bloated. (Work with XFCE 4 with GTK and you'll see what I mean). If you manage to save your settings, please tell me how. |
I have the same Winfast tv card but running perfectly on stock Debian kernel 2.6.8. Because Debian compiles many functions as modules, these extras are loaded to run the card:
bttv tda9887 tuner cx8800 cx88xx video_buf v4l1_compat v4l2_common btcx_risc videodev i2c_core i2c_algo_bit I also use TV-time instead, which works fine. Not sure how Suse compiles the kernel or if you're able to modprobe these, but I can't imagine a distro like Suse not including full V4L functionality in their kernel release. Try a new Knoppix/Kanotix release to test your card -- it should work out of the box. Also, make sure your card is detected appropriately as NTSC or PAL. Hope this helps you. |
