Question winesetuptk folders, and rpms that don't do anything

I am trying to set up wine on my RH9. So far I have dwnlded
- tcltk-winesetuptk-0.6.1b folder
- winesetuptk-0.6.1b folder
- winesetuptk-0.6.1-b.i586.rpm
and
- wine-20030813-1rh9winehq.athlon.rpm
I tried to install winesetuptk and ended with these results:

[mark@localhost mark]$
rpm -i /home/mark/wine/winesetuptk-0.6.1-b.i586.rpm
error: cannot get exclusive lock on /var/lib/rpm/Packages
error: cannot open Packages index using db3 - Operation not permitted (1)
error: cannot open Packages database in /var/lib/rpm

-thanks

Ah, I figured out that I must be logged as root. Now my problem is that I have winesetup going, but it failed to autodetect my Windows partition. How do I specify where to find that partition (I mean, how do I type it)?
Or, should I have installed wine first?

I haven't installed wine yet but it would be logical to install wine before you could use a tool kit to configure it.

I'm getting clashing with files from a previous version of wine which I had downloaded and then deleted. Where can I find these files and delete them for good? Any idea which directory these might be in? or, perhaps I must uninstall (I don't think it is installed, unless me clicking on it does something to it) the thing. Can you give me a quickie on how to uninstall an rpm? rpm -u ?

uninstall is done by using rpm -e name.rpm
after installing a version of wine, go get winetools to set up a fake windows drive, and you can find a link to it by clicking the frankscorner link in my sig...

Leave off the rpm for that

rpm -e <packagename without the dot rpm>
