wine will run notepad.exe but it wont run explorer.exe..!?!?!? yy..

well it could be many reasons why it is not running ... plus i think you need iexplore.exe
installed to run explorer.exe ... and in any case there is no use wasting your time trying
to get it to work, cause your not going to be able to do anything productive with it
anyways ...

Why on earth would you want to run notepad on linux, which has dozens
of superior native editors?

And why run IE? Do you like spyware, adware, malware in general?

Even under M$Windows using Mozilla instead of IE will essentially
eliminate your exposure to malware. Just be very careful about
installing "free" programs.

i dont want to rin notepad .... its jsut that notpad runs but exlporer.exe wont.,..

explorer.exe? Do you mean filemanager or program manager or the windows gui? What is wine running as? 3.1, 95 or 98? Why on earth do you want explorer when you have nautilus, konqueror, midnight commander and many others available to you? What can explorer do that the others can't? Did you install explorer? What error messages do you get when you run wine explorer.exe?

Basically "wine will run notepad.exe but it wont run explorer.exe..!?!?!? yy.." tells us absolutely nothing. A wish list is of little use when you have a technical question.

explorer.exe is...your windows.....well not the full windows.. but its like... your windwos starmenu and desktop and the sutff.. i cones its like Yuor windows.. if ur running windwos go to taskmanager crlt+shift+esc then go to process and end process explorer.exe.. which will kill your desktop...(will go away) every thign accept the sof yuor currently running and the one were running u jsut cna't see them... to get it back you go to... newtask and run explorer.exe from windows. dir... then...your desktop cames.. back i want the windows deskop on my linux..LIKE a program.. running in linux... but its window...i will still be usig linux.. and using windows..i am not saying taht i want to remove linux and get windows.. desktop... i am satying that it will run liek a program wheren i ca rin linux program in linux,, and windows programs.. on my explorer....which is my windwos desktop,...........

now i think its not use.. it wont.run thaxfor yuor help...

well i can't really understand what you just said, but from what i can gather from
your post is just not going to happen ... what you want is literally impossible, again
if i am understanding the post correctly ... what your trying to do is basically
"run windows" so i don't know why you just don't do that ...

I may be catching on, finally. It sounds as if you want to run Windows
and Linux concurrently on one computer. Not consecutively, as in multi-
booting, nor simultaneously, as with multiprocessing, but concurrently.

As you have discovered, Wine permits this to a certain extent but not
completely. I've been told that VMWare can do it completely, but VMWare
is quite expensive. You might try Cygwin; it gives much of Linux's
functionality on top of Windows.

I'm trying to accomplish this by running Windows & Linux on separate
boxes which communicate by TightVNC. So far I have not gotten VNC
on Linux to work well with VNC on Windows, but it's only a matter of
time. VNC between Windows boxes works very well for me.

0o0 - if you had explained what you wanted to do at the outset, you would have saved a lot of trouble. Wine is designed to run individual programs - not the whole OS.

If you want to run Linux on Windows, get VMWare or Cygwin. VMWare allows you to set up another OS (or OSes) inside Windows or Linux. Cygwin is a distro which runs on Windows. Or use Win4Lin or VMWare inside Linux to get Windows going.

And as has already been pointed out, your reply was almost entirely unreadable. If you really want us to help you, you have to type in grammatically correct English. Leetspeak (AOLSpeak) is really unpopular here because no one wants to have to translate to help someone on their own time. So, next time - capital letters at the start of sentences and names, etc, punctuation is good - full stops, commas, etc and paragraph breaks help us to help you.

why bother trying to run explorer.exe on linux ? just go back to windows. :)
