Wine n00b question

Hi, i'm running Ubuntu w/. 2,6 kernel
and i just downloaded wine with apt-get
following the documentation i'm suppose to be able to access the ./tools/wineinstall file..

however my problem is that i can't find this, tried slocate, and the gnome file search...

is there a way to look at apt-get logs? or some sort of thing like that to find out where apt installed the source tree

If you have downloaded it with apt-get you probably already have it installed. Try to run it, run 'wine'.

Yes, you need to configure it (the default config is rather useful, btw). Look into .wine directory in your home dir. Inside you have wine config files. They're not that hard to understand and there are examples as comments.

the tutorial says theres supposedly a
'.wine/config' that is generated by the wineinstall compiling and what not

but in my .wine folder i only have system.reg userdef.reg and user.reg

is that right? or am i missing a file?

+thanks i'll go and try adn decipher the reg files that i have

______________

Quote:
$ mkdir ~/.wine/
$ cp dir_to_wine_source_code/documentation/samples/config ~/.wine/config
ok i'm actually suppose to copy adn paste it... but that goes back to my first problem wehre is the source installed to ?
