wine install of .NET 2.0 hangs

I am on Kubuntu 8.04. When I try to install .NET 2.0 in the wine that came with 8.04, the initialling install popup hangs forcing reboot-no error message. Could someone help?

You mean that it physically reboots your machine? If so, you have a problem somewhere, and wine is the least of it.

As for .net stuff, I am not sure, but I think that it will be easier to install with winetricks, it's a simple shell script that can be downloaded here:
