Odd; it sounds like you might need the MS TrueType fonts package, but this is a guess. The package i refer to is 'msttcorefonts'.

Hi
again, i have since last post ,tried adjusting fonts in appearance settings and i now have text in wine configuration window but there is a problem, the words start clear to read for the 1st 2-3 letters then the remaining part of each word seems to be over written several times .also some of the text jumbles up in appearance settings window when changing font settings such as smooth/monochrome e.t.c,can anyone tell me please what & how many font types would i expect to find with the standard ubuntu 8.10 installation,i can not find how and whereto download and add any possible missing (ms true type fonts) to linux as suggested in last reply.hope someone can help please many thanks arkrite16.

In ubuntu, type this at the commandline:
Code:
sudo apt-get install msttcorefonts
This will install the MS True Type core fonts. Hope that helps.
