Hi there,

Look for a utility called "wine tools" which can help you to configure the base wine system.

My machine has pathetically slow video because I have to run the non-accelerated XServer (Damn you ATI, I need support for Radeon 8500 AND the 7500 in catalyst!) but I have tried installing games and they run - painfully slow (I badly need to upgrade) -- but they do run.

Prior to installing wine tools I did not have much success in getting wine to cooperate with any but the most self-contained apps (e.g., TextPad, WinZip, WinRar, etc.).

From what I understand, Crossover Office and Cedega include built-in support for many games (winetools requires a little more manual intervention) but so far, winetools does everything I need so I recommend you try winetools first, and if that won't cut it, check out Crossover Office and/or Cedega.
