Windows XP to Debian 3.0

I would like to make a dual boot system on my father's notebook but I really will have troubles if anything doesn't work properly after installing Linux.

Can anyone convince me that FIPS will work and make a partition on a NFTS system (WindowsXP of course) and "a priori" everything installed will work?

Of course, I have made all the necessary security copies, but I am still afraid of losing much more than my father's computer.

Thank you very much.:Pengy:

fips is only for FAT filesystems. There is a tool called ntfsresize for resizing. You can use it with a Linux bootdisk. Also, you can use Partition Magic to resize ntfs.
