Windows XP Directories

Can Linux read and write Windows-XP formatted drives / directories? If yes, from what kernel?

Will help. In short, I wouldn't risk it. I have a bridge fat32 partition for file exchange between Windows and Linux.

Many thanks! If you allow me the stupid question (and if you happen to know): what would I have to do in Windows-XP to get a FAT32 partition recognized?
