Newbie question: I have two HDD's. Have Win XP on the "C" drive and Red Hat 9.0 on the second HDD. Gave Red Hat 20 GB of the 100 GB HDD. The second HDD appears in Windows Explorer within XP Home. Unable to access the HDD though. No size properties are displayed. Unable to format from within Explorer even though the option is available on the pop-up window. Would like to be able to have access to the remaining 80 GB for use by Windows.
Also receive a GRUB HDD error upon initial power-up of my system. Have to restart to access the GRUB screen. Note, GRUB resides on the beginning sector of my secondary (100 GB) HDD.
Thank you Proud. I see you are English. I am retired US Navy. Spent many an enjoyable day with your sailors. They had a bad habit of out drinking me.... "Here have another one mate!" :-)
Opened a terminal in Red Hat and used fdisk to make the extra 80GB of the 2nd HDD FAT32 (option b). Of course Win XP wants me to format the disk in NTFS... Don't believe that Red Hat will recognize data on a NTFS partition. Any ideas on how to leave it as a FAT32 that both Win XP and Red Hat would recognize? BTW my primary HDD is formated as NTFS. Thanks...
linux can read the data form an ntfs partition but cant write to it. so if you just want to read the windows data from it you can go ahead and then make it an ntfs
