Windows wants to do a check disk if i boot to winXP from grub

I have SuSE 10.0 installed on my box and grub automatically installed itself (i have no problem with it doing so). The only thing is, is that when i boot to windows it wants to do a check disk. I dont like being at the computer when it starts up so I was wondering if there was a way for me to completely bypass the check disk so i dont have to manually cancel the check.

Also, i was wondering if it was possible for windows to be the first choice when grub launches i instead of SuSE.

BTW: When grub starts there is an option for SuSE(XEN) or someting like that. What is it?

Thanks!

your config file for grub is in: /boot/grub/

it is probably called: menu.lst or config something-or-other.

edit it by simply changing the default option to 1 (it should be 0 now-- which really is the first os that is listed in the code)

as far as win doing a check.. we would need to see your grub config file to see what is making it do that.

it is not a large file, try and post it.

otherwise you can go into xp and change the settings to ingnore request by the os to do a disk check when xp suspects something is afoul (hahaha, it checks when nothing is wrong.. ironic

good luck.

As halvy indicated, Windows should only do a disk check at the boot if it was shut down in the wrong way or
if something else is wrong.

For any Windows hacks, I'd advise you to have a look at http://jsifaq.com.
In this case, I think it involves changing some value in the registry, but I'm not sure.
