windows too big on IceWM, fluxbox etc

HI,

I'm trying to switch from KDE/Gnome to one of the lightweight windows managers, to help my old 433Mhz Celeron keep up, however I'm getting the same problem as several other netizens , and have not been able to find a solution by general searches or off Linux specific sites.

My KDE desktop is set at 800x600, and when I re-login using fluxbox or iceWM everything looks fine, until I start an app (eg Konquerer). The app windows are huge! (fonts & widgets are ok) All I see is the middle of the window, no title bar or frames. I've tried moving the windows, minimising, maximising etc. Nothing I do is able to get the window(s) behaving nicely.

I know from searching that others are having the same problems, but I haven't found any solution yet.

If anyone knows whats going on, please let me know.

Cheers Stephen

Specs:

Mandrake 10.0
display (Geforce 4 Ti 4200) Nvidia drivers 800x600
fluxbox (from rpm) 0.9.8
IceWM - version rpm'd on mandrake disks

in flux...you can adjust the size of the window by grabbing the bottom corner of the window, and clicking with your left mouse button, make it the size you want....
you can also press and hold the alt key and the right mouse button, and you'll be able to do the same thing...the cursor will turn into an L sort of thing, and by moving your mouse, you'll be able to resize your windows...
once you have it the size you want, right click on the title bar of the window, scroll down to "remember" and click "remember dimensions" and the next time you open the window, it should be that size...

Similar in ice. Grab the window with an 'alt-mouse-drag' to bring a corner in view, then grab the corner. Check the size bar to see what it is when it looks good, add it to the winoptions file if the app won't remember its own dimensions. Is this just with KDE apps or something? Weird.

i think it's more to do with the 800x600 settings...i had to adjust konqueror, korganizer, sylpheed and a few other things too...when i have a res such as 1024x768, it's not a problem...
