Windows to Linux - MSMoney
Hello All
I have been busy the last few weeks migrating to Linux which is something I wanted to do for some time but somehow never got around to. Current progress is:
My next step would be to migrate Ms Money. We have several years of data and different datasets. As I see it there are two options:
I have noticed on at least one thread that someone managed to successfully import MS Money data into GNUCash but somewhere else that they had to use a VM in the end. Any suggestions on the above two options would be appreciated especially if someone managed to get the option working successfully. |
have you checked any of these programs out?
Skrooge ( http://skrooge.org/ ) KMyMoney ( http://kmymoney2.sourceforge.net/ ) GNUcash ( http://www.gnucash.org/ ) Grisbi ( http://www.grisbi.org/ ) Gnofin ( http://gnofin.sourceforge.net/ ) Pulled this from http://www.linuxalt.com/ |
Windows to Linux - MSMoney
Thanks, had a look at Skrooge, KMyMoney and GNUcash.
All seems like good programs and most allow importing data exported from Money in QIF format. It looks like most will work well for basic datasets but it becomes a bit more complicated for multiple accounts having our own defined categories. I tried MS Money on WINE and it seems to work reasonably well. A few issues to date are: - WINE Causes SELINUX alerts to go crazy - For some reason the Tools Menu in MS Money will not open (expand) but other menu items are fine. - Some of the reports crash while others work fine The following link was useful setting up MS Money in WINE: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManage...rsion&iId=2728 The plan is now to look at the programs below a bit more carefully then to start fresh at some stage.
