Windows Partition Split For Room To Install Red Hat Linux 9.0
Hello,
I have had windows for a while but I am to the point I want to learn Linux (for many other reasons too) and I am sick and tired of Microsoft and there crappy stuff.... Well a while back my computer crashed and I lost everything... Well Microsoft only sent me "Restore Disks" (my computer had pre-install with Windows XP so I had no install disks)... Well I just re-installed windows using those disks (thats all I have)... But, that install will only install if it can format and re-partition my harddrive... It makes 2 partitions one a restore partition and the other (the REST of my hard drive) is the Windows partition... I cant make room for linux... I tried using the free program "Partition Resizer" but it tells me that the two partitions overlap so it dose not read either of them... I have to leave windows on my computer for other members of my family.... How can I fix this? Thanks!, Andrew |
You could try to use knoppix ... both for
the resizing, and later on for a installation. It comes with parted and ntfsresize, both of which I have successfully used before. Cheers, Tink |
Thanks!.
I will give it a try and let you know... Andrew |
