Angry windows partition

I find it dificult accessing the windows partition from RH 9 (Shrike) It says the kernel does not support it. How come when Mandrake 9.1 does so? I dabbled in amending fstab and mounting a fat32 /dev/hda1 no luck

Can you tell us exactly what you tried, and possibly post up the error message?

RH has some licensing issues with several parts of their distro. They also seemed more apprehensive on putting beta drivers/apps in there.

If it's fat32 though, AFAIK RH supports that default. If it's NTFS:

Cool

Was the Windows partition NTFS by any chance?

As Master C said - Red Hat has liscencing issues surrounding both Linux NTFS drivers so doesnt include them in its distributions.

Youve got 2 options:
  • Download an RPM
  • Re-compile your kernel

I would just use the RPM
