Open up nautilus. Go to Edit, then preferences. In preferences there will be an option like "open new folders in...". Currently it will be set to something like "a new window". You'll want to change it to the option something like "the same window". I know that's vague, post back if you need clarification.

did i say i was a beginner :)
first what is nautilus, can't find this anywhere, i've run a search and it return the dvd/cd burning tool and file management (which does not contain the option needed)

nautilus is the gnome file manager.
when you click on your home folder for example nautilus opens....it's the window that appears :p

just click on any folder and it will open, nautilus is like the equivilant of explorer in windows.

open a folder
click edit *> preferences
under behavior tab check always open in browser window
