In your home directory there is a folder .wine (hidden). If you go in there, the drive_c folder you can find your program in there, probably in Program Files or Program Files(x86). Poke around and see if there is any java stuff with your program. I don't think it is java just looking at the errors.
Note, it is entirely possible to install and load a program via WINE and have it function poorly or have server issues. If you were to look at WineHQ and check through their app database you will see ratings like garbage, gold, silver, platinum etc. Sometimes things just do not work using Wine. There are also settings you could search through and try in winecfg and/or winetricks etc.
Options of course if the software is required is dual boot with a small windows partition to run your app. You could try installing windows in virtual box and install/use the app through there.
Thanks a lot, as a matter of fact, the first time in 10 years Ubuntu, I am running a dual boot, I don't even know, why. If I install a virtual box, I wouldn't even need wine, and the rest, true? Maybe I'll try that. The app is completely unknown, so it is in no list, neither winehq nor elsewhere. If you google it, you only get spam like I got here on LQ, from people supposedly on LQ since their birth.
In the meanwhile I'll try poking, the only problem being, that I am less than a newbie to all this.
Regards
I think, if that app is something you use while in Windows then I'd just dual boot. Yes, you could run windows in virtualbox and then install the app within that. Do you have enough ram etc to run windows in vm?
The fact the app is so little used makes it harder to figure out as you are blazing the trail yourself If you type winecfg in terminal a box will come up and you can try fiddling with dll's and other settings to see if you can tweak it to run.

If it were fiddling, ok, but it's not even poking, but I'll try. I just can't accept no as an answer from an app. From human beings without problem. I have only 4 RAM, Pentium Gold Intel® Pentium(R) CPU 5405U @ 2.30GHz × 4 (not a gamer, not even pac man then), but SSD instead of HDD.
I still have the old tav.msi, but I think, it will not work anymore, but I will try that as well.
Anyway, I really appreciate your patience, and if I get it working, you'll be the first one to know.
Could it be best to uninstall wine, etc. and upon re-installing install only the 32bit prefix?
I tried installing it as well. I am using Mint 20 Cinnamon. It does the same as yours, "installs" but you cannot type in the login boxes. I will play with it a little after work today. I am not so sure it will work

Thanks a lot, the problem with me is, when I play, I mostly break it, because I play with it like a newly born: breaking it up, by chewing on it. The good side is, here in this case, you can delete it all and start anew.
I probably found the reason for the error: running one of those file recovery apps for a whole bunch of files I deleted erroneously wir P7zip, I found out, that there are errors in the memory structure, so I think I should rather repair this before starting to poke elsewhere.

Reason: changed starting position
I re-installed Ubuntu w/o Windows and installed wine and the result was different, I also installed wine and mono and gecko, and what astonished me, is, that there must be a Java part in this, because I got the following message (and TAV did not install as before)

Thanks a lot: I think I found the solution: winehq recommends install wine 5.15 and some tricks
