windows button on keyboard in linux
2 questions
1 - is there any way to make the program menu appear like in windows when i hit the windows key on my dell usb keyboard, i was thinking on applying a redhat (fedora) decal over the windows image. 2 - is there anyway to have windows + E, pop up an explorer (home or computer) directory in the same way windows does it. thanks in advance, e. |
hi,
don't know about Fedora core.......but in slackware pressing window key or the combination of (Alt + F1) does the same thing. regards |
By default Redhat/Fedora prefer GNOME, which I really dont appreciate much, if you switch your desktop manager to KDE, then in KDE-Control Center(kcontrol), you can assign any types of key binddings that you desire.
Win key: indeed pops up system menu. Ctrl+ESC : gives you so called task manager ALt+tab switches window ... so on & ..so forth........... |
well i am using what ever is the default when u install fedora core 4 (and i dont really have any problems with it), so i just wanted to get the same funcitonality here, is that possible ?
e. is there a control centre equivanet for what ever the deault gui is ? e/ |
I'm using fedora, but an older version, with GNOME. In the standard options, under preferences, there is a section called "keyboard shortcuts", maybe it's on yours too? :)

yeah i found it, i managed to map the windoze key to the menu, but was wondering how to map the windoze key + e to the home menu. When ever i try to hit the windowze key + anything else it tells me that it is already mapped to the other function that i jsut did. seems like u cant type in the key names. any ideas ?
