Red Hat installation will do that for you. It asks you about what partition you want to use for installing Linux and then it will find your Windows installation and set up the Grub boot loader so you can choose which OS to boot. It sets up so it boots Linux by default but you can change that later by editing one line in the Grub configuration file later.

Hello,
You did not mention the size of your drive, nor if you had any unused space or not to install Linux.I would be very careful, and would first make a back up image of your windows..Then I would try to see if Windows could resize your drive so that it creates free space for Linux..Unless you are careful and do everything correct you could wind up without Windows..
I personally would suggest for a new comer that you go to Sun and install Virtualbox on windows, then install your virtual box Linux..Another choice would be to install Ubuntu from the wubi installer..This will give you a way to try Linux and not destroying Windows..
Just my suggestion,
Goodluck
