Will Redhat install on to IBM Aptiva...


with 500 amd 128mb memory 10gig hd and realtek nic???

Yes and should run fairly well. I would suggest adding another 128MB or more ram if you want to run KDE.

Thank you that is great to hear...

Only problem is I don't know what disro to go with. Redhat/Madrake or SUSE......getting out the dart board! Any opinions???

If it were me, I wouldn't run any of those distro's, they're far too robust to run on that machine at an optimized speed. I'd go for something lighter like Slack or Vector, or even Arch/Gentoo if you have the know-how. But thats just me.

I ran MD 8.2 and RH 7.x on a AMD Duron 600 with 384mb of ram and it ran fairly quick. I was a workstation and didn't have every service you could think of running. I agree hat Slackware run a lot faster, but it may be a little confusing for a new user.
